Office For Research Imaging

Welcome to the

Office for Research Imaging

"Research imaging is our priority."

Indiana Institute for Biomedical Imaging Sciences
Office for Research Imaging

Mission

The Office for Research Imaging (ORI) of the Indiana Institute for Biomedical Imaging Sciences will serve as a centralized point of contact for Research Investigators and their staff to promote and facilitate the use of biomedical imaging as a research tool. The resources of the Indiana Institute for Biomedical Imaging Sciences, an institute within the IU School of Medicine, combined with that of Clarian will provide investigators with access to the most advanced imaging technology available anywhere in Indiana; as well as: expertise to assure safety, compliance with state and federal guidelines, advanced protocol and quality control implementation, and simplified billing procedures, and the ability to create robust imaging databases. Biomedical imaging is a vital tool in establishing biological characteristics of human disease and disorders and has become a standard in pre-clinical and clinical trials.

 Critical Goals

To accomplish its mission and vision, ORI must meet several critical goals:

  • Serve as a point of contact for intra- and inter-institutional relationships.ORI will facilitate the introduction of scientists both within and outside the imaging arena to biomedical imaging expertise within the Indiana Institute for Biomedical Imaging Sciences (IIBIS) and clinical radiologists within Indiana Radiology Partners (IRP).
  • Provide expertise and support to investigators and industry partners to fast-track incorporation of biomedical imaging into their research including regulatory support (IRB, RDRC, FDA, IACUC), protocol development, protocol implementation to assure the safety of research patients, compliance with state and federal guidelines, and data integrity.
  • Centralize scheduling and billing for all research imaging in the Indiana University and Clarian Hospital system.
  • Develop a unified plan for storage of images and related data for imaging studies performed in Clarian and IIBIS facilities.
